Riri Osano
Coach Riri began dancing with school-based street dance teams, including the Sayawatha Dance Troupe and the UP Streetdance Club. Through these groups, she built a strong foundation in multiple street dance styles: hip hop, house, and waacking. She is currently a member of AXIS PH, where she is shifting toward the industry side of dance. Along the way, she is developing her artistry by drawing inspiration from different countries and cultures. She continues to strengthen her hip hop foundations and use her effortless groove to bring swag to every performance.
What should students expect in your class?

In Swag Diyan/Worldwide Swag we'll be focusing on groove and that means a lot of repetitive drills. These drills are necessary to be able to make the groove look natural/effortless. At the same time, building that confidence to look and feel cool/swag. Once we get used to incorporating the groove, we'll dive in how to add your own personality and making the dance your own. Most importantly it is a safe space to just enjoy and feel the music through the movement.

What's your message to your students?

To be honest, this style can feel pretty intimidating. That’s exactly why I want to share in this camp because I want people to realize that at its core, it’s really just about enjoying the music and your movement. I’ve only recently discovered what a safe space for dance feels like, and how much I truly love dancing. I hope to create that same kind of safe space for my students so they can fall even more in love with dance.
